It’s me on My Bridge Radio! You can listen to the link below or read. Or read along as you listen. Just listen for the chime to know when to turn the page. . . or something like that. . . Am I the only one who spent hours as a kid looking at books while listening to a recording of them? Probably.
I get encouraged hearing we may be able to avoid most illnesses just through frequent hand washing. Then I remember almost no one in this family is capable of reaching the sink without assistance. Why is it the things that would be most beneficial for our family always seem like so much work and almost all of it falls on my shoulders? Making a healthy dinner instead of hitting up the drive through, going for a family walk instead of watching another movie, enforcing bedtimes instead of letting the kids run around until all hours of the night. These are things I know I need to do for my kids, but it requires me to put our needs ahead of what’s easiest for me. This reminds me of the discipline it takes to make the right spiritual decisions, too. It isn’t always easy to choose prayer time when I need it or church when we’re tired or make the sacrifice to serve others through the church nursery, but these are the decisions we make because we value our spiritual health. I have found that just like with frequent hand washing, the investment is always worth it.
