The most important part of potty-training is learning how to read your child’s cues. There are some very simple and straightforward indicators that your child needs to poop(/has already pooped). All you need to do is be alert for these telltale signs:
-Toddler is avoiding eye contact.
-Toddler is looking directly at you, talking to you, but also grunting.
-Toddler is quietly playing in the other room.
-Toddler is nervously running through the house.
-You are in the shower.
-Toddler is hiding behind the couch.
-Toddler is doing a puzzle.
-You are not at home and forgot to bring a change of clothes.
-Toddler is yelling, “POTTY!”
-Toddler is yelling, “NO POTTY!”
-You are in a public place without easy bathroom access.
-Toddler is taking a bath and staring into space.
-Toddler is crying for no apparent reason (like toddlers do about 80% of their day).
-Toddler is sitting on the potty screaming, “NOT WANT IT!”
-Toddler is sitting on the potty, happily doing nothing for 20 minutes.
-You are currently driving a car.
-Toddler doesn’t want you in the bathroom with her.
-Toddler wants you to be looking deeply into your eyes while holding your hand.
-You are on an important phone call.
-Toddler does not want you to look in her diaper.
-Toddler has brought you a fresh diaper.
-You just sat down to eat a hot meal (finally).
-Toddler is just sitting down to a hot meal.
-Toddler should be napping.
-You have taken the toddler on a walk.
See? Super simple. Hope this helps!
